Frequently Asked Questions
When does soccer start, and who will contact me?
Soccer will begin in May, the for the Micro/Mini division the first game is usually held on the Monday following the Victoria Day weekend. The exact date of your first practice or game will depend on your age group, and your coaches preference. You will be contacted by your coach usually between the 2nd and 3rd week of May, the coach will tell you the time and place for your team meeting and you should receive information on practices and games at this meeting.
What night will my games be played?
YOUTHS: Your game night or schedule will not be determined until registration by all clubs within the HDSL are completed, and field and referee availability has been determined.
MICRO/MINIS: Players will usually have games on a consistent day and time throughout the season. However, game nights are subject to change at the discretion of the WBSC prior to the beginning of the season as it depends on the number of registrations we’ve received, ages/divisions may have to be combined to formulate enough teams. Refunds will not be given should game nights need to be change to accommodate for enough teams.
Thursday: U8/9 and House league U10-U12 Mixed.
What does my registration fee cover?
Your registration includes league registration, complete team uniforms (socks, shorts and jersey), team and individual photos, insurance, year end picnic, field rentals, equipment (balls, goalie jerseys/gloves, coaches kits), referees etc..
Festival: For ages 4-8 there will be an in house festival. Should teams desire to enter out of district tournaments, The Wasaga Beach Soccer Club will pay the cost for each Youth travel team to enter ONE away tournament.
What do I need to supply for my child to play soccer?
Shin pads are mandatory and soccer cleats are recommended.
You should also always provide a drink for your child at both games and practices.
How much travel is involved in the travel league?
A season is made up of about 12-14 games. Half of these games will be played at home. Participating clubs can include as an example Cookstown, Barrie, Innisfil, Alliston, Orillia, Bond Head, Huntsville, Ramara, Bradford and Bracebridge. Not all teams travel to the same centres it depends on how many teams enter from each jurisdiction.
Can I request that my child be on the same team as his/her friend?
Please be advised that no requests will be accepted this season, unless there are extenuating circumstances which will be reviewed by the Board. We try very hard to balance teams based on players abilities. It is very likely you will know someone on the team. As the same age divisions play on the same night, the issue of transportation is alleviated.
If I missed all registration dates how can I register my child?
You can go to our contact page and email the club administrator .
Can my child play if he/she is only 3 years of age?
Yes, if your child turns 4 years of age by the end of the current year. If you child will not turn 4 years of age during current year of play they will have to wait another year. There is no exception to this rule as our insurance only covers children ages 4-18.
The club does not issue Refunds once a player has registered for the season. Unless there are not enough players to form a team, within your age division and there is no availability in the higher age group, a full refund will be issued.
What age division will my child play?
We will attempt to place your child in the age appropriate group, however depending on registration numbers, age groups may be combined.
